With a spectacular panorama of the lake Garda and a beautiful trail leading along the rockside and in and out through small tunnels, the Ponale Trail is by far one of the most popular trails in Garda Trentino. It is easy accessible, and family-friendly.
Start the hike down at the centre of Riva del Garda, make a pit stop at the café Ponalealto, and continue towards ‘La statua della Madonna a Pregasina’ for the greatest view over the lake.
- Length of trail is about 2500m-3000m depending on your end point
- In Pregasina you find some restaurants suitable for a rest before heading back
- Recommend to start the walk very early, and avoid the mid sun
- Beware of maintain bikers during the high season
Faroe Islands: On a hunt for Adventure
Arriving on the Faroe Islands is one heck of adventure in itself - never have I have I ever been so glued to the airplane window trying to capture the sense of this beautiful country I was about to explore.
Even after we got a car and drove through the landscape, I still could not believe it, overwhelmed by the wild sound of wind rushing over the mountains.
The photo series shows our trip in chronological order:
DAY 1: Arrival; Checkin; Torshavn; Water-rafting
DAY 2: Daytrip to Mykines by boat
DAY 3: Exploring small towns, such as Saksun, Funningfur & Gjojv
DAY 4: Hiking to the top of Slættaratindur
DAY 5: Quick detour to see the igloos by Kvivik before departure
OUR BASE:Hotel Hafnia in Torshavn - one out of two 4* hotels on the Islands. Absolutely recommendable. A tip: get up very early and watch the sun rise above this adorable “city” from the top floor of the hotel.
MUST- HAVE: You absolutely need a rental car to go the farest corners of the Islands! You will not see Faroe Islands properly without.
MUST-SEE: the stunning Mulafossur waterfall in Gásadalur - find a guide on how to hike there here; The very instagrammable iglo-shaped houses you can actually rent; Puffins - I mean they are so adorable; The stunning view from Slættaratindur, the highest mountain in Faroe Islands.
MUST-TRY: water-rafting; local sushi, helicopter ride
